Blood Drive

Wednesday, April 28, 9am-2pm

Online Sign-up Now Available

Next Wednesday, the HS Student Council is sponsoring the second Blood Drive of the year, and we urge any of you who can to consider signing up to donate blood to this important local endeavor.

The Blood Centers of the Pacific (BCP) sponsor these donation programs in high schools throughout the city. BCP says, “High school students [and, in our case, parents throughout our Waldorf community] have a chance to make a big difference in the lives of people in their community. BCP receives a significant amount of our blood supply from high school blood drives. We rely on the support and dedication of our area high schools to maintain a safe and adequate blood supply for patients throughout the Bay Area.”

“Statistics have shown that people who begin donating blood in high school are more likely to continue giving blood throughout their lifetime. BCP’s goal is to cultivate that habit - the ‘HEROES for Life’ high school program encourages students to take part in blood drives, donate blood and to make it a lifelong commitment ”

from www.bloodcenters.org.

Parents, if you can, please be a role model for our students and step up next Wednesday to donate blood and support the gift of life.

Sign-up online (click on the link above) OR call Jessica at the HS front desk, 415-431-2736.

Helping Haiti 2010

Junior Andrew Slade travelled on a ten-day humanitarian trip to Haiti in the summer of 2009. In the light of recent events he is looking to support a medical team being organized by many of the same people, that will be in Haiti from April 13-21. Money is still needed to help with transportation/food/lodging costs for some of the nurses who will accompany the team. These costs per team member are $1500, and Andrew is hopeful that some of you may choose this moment to make a donation to the great need that is still evident in Haiti. Because this trip is right around the corner, your contributions would be most appreciated at this moment. Every dollar helps.

Your checks may be made out to “Journeys of the Heart” and mailed to:

Linda Sheppard
P.O. Box 102
Hillsboro, OR 97124
